Juniors
The Macomb Kennel Club promotes and encourages the showing of purebred dogs of all breeds in Junior Performance and Junior Companion events. It's senior members work to advance the interest of juniors in the show ring, dog sports arena and field by providing thoughtful mentoring and advice and encouraging sportsmanlike competition. In addition to Senior Membership, the Macomb Kennel Club also offers Junior and Family membership opportunities.
Junior Showmanship
The
American Kennel Club offers conformation classes which evaluate the abilities of the young handler participant on the other
end of the lead. AKC Junior Showmanship offers youngsters the opportunity to develop their handling skills, learn about good sportsmanship, learn about dogs and dogs shows, and develop an unique bond with their dog.Juniors are important to the future of the sport of dogs and responsible
dog ownership, and the more they learn the more valuable they become.
The values, attitudes and responsibility learned through Junior Showmanship
will serve youngsters well throughout their lives. By putting time and
effort into learning about their dog and how to present it, juniors
are rewarded with a win.

Junior Companion Events
The American Kennel Club also recognizes Junior Handlers in the
sports of Obedience, Agility, Rally, Lure Coursing and Tracking. In these Companion Events,
any Junior Handler up to the age of 18 is eligible to compete as a Junior.
They exhibit in the regular classes and in the field along with all other
exhibitors at the trials and tests. They obtain the same
titles and awards
